2011 saw many changes come to Myrtle. We moved into a larger, more accommodating house in a better neighborhood. We had bars and restaurants within walking distance. The new dates coincided with the first rounds of the NCAA Basketball Tournament (and Tim’s birthday). And the weather, for once, was perfect.

The competition was a close match that was only secured on the final day. A record-setting 5 matches (of the 8 total) were sweeps. But in the end the Basterds were indeed victorious.

Trip Highlights:

  • Prior to the trip, Alan was nice enough to create a special yardage book for the Hookers to use.
  • During the practice round Monty may or may not have broken a house window at Island Green. You can’t prove a thing. And it’s not like he meant to do it.
  • Within earshot of Steve at dinner, Alan, Monty and Mike were discussing Steve’s initiation to the group. Alan said he thought Steve had been acclimating himself well but mentioned that he didn’t yet know about “Naked Tuesdays.” Mike chimed in that he also didn’t know about the “Margarine Rubdown.”
  • Dave needed a pen. Tim said “Here’s some paper.” Mike responded sarcastically “Hey, I need a car. How about this bowling ball?”
  • Steve broke the individual shotgun mark with 10 at Prestwick. He said he was “fuggin’ hammad.”
  • While addressing a key putt on Monday, Aaron found himself being heckled by a three-year old boy playing in his yard nearby. The rhythmic “HAW! HAW!” bird call caused Aaron to question “Would somebody shut this fcking kid up!?”
  • We all ventured out on Sunday to celebrate Tim’s 40th birthday.
  • Mike didn’t know much about Steve or his game before they were partnered together on Monday. His first question was “So how do you feel about shotguns?”
  • Alan won the NCAA basketball pool.
  • Rick, Greg and Steve won closest to the pin on successive days.
  • Ken won the straightest drive.
