With important contributions from up and down the roster, a strong team effort led Kenny and the Jets to victory over the Bomb Squad at the 8th Annual Myrtle Mayhem.

In one of the closest events in recent memory, Team Captain Preede and longtime teammate Rush tasted victory for the first time. After three days of back and forth, the Jets held a 7 point lead going into the final day. Even as the groups made the final turn on day four at Prestwick, the outcome of the tournament hung in the balance. Hardiman/Dinora and Package/Markell secured key victories on the 18th hole to stave off the Bomb Squad.

Highlights of the trip included:

  • The airline losing Mike, Erik and Ken’s clubs until right before tee-off on Saturday.
  • Moran asking our driver “Do you go by ‘Cookie’ or ‘Mr. Monster?
  • Irritating rangers at the Legends courses pushing us to play faster and making us skip holes.
  • Moran/Reed and Rush/St. Laurent competed in perhaps the best played golf match ever at MM. The Bombers shot a 71 and the Jets a 72. Only 3 holes were won.
  • Kenny and the Jets donned matching shirts and hats on day 3.
  • A very entertaining night at River City with Lacy the waitress and a group of locals.
  • After nearly needing to go home with severe back pain, Gruner toughed it out and played some of his best golf ever on day 3 as he and Preede split with Reed and Sacks.
  • The closest to the pin contest was won by 8 different golfers.
  • A champagne shower on the deck for the victors.
