It came down to the last hole. Dwyer tapped in for bogey on 18 at Prestwick to win the hole and split his and Hardiman’s match with Package and Krempl. The group had decided to remain in the dark regarding what, if anything, the final match meant for the overall tournament. Turns out it meant everything.
McCann-Evans and Dinora-Chicklo had swept their respective matches for the Wicked Sticks. With Package and Krempl winning the front 9 and guaranteed of at least a tie overall, the score as the 18th hole began was essentially 43.5-42 in favor of the Myrtle Golf Team. The possibilities were:
- Tied hole: MGT wins the match 7.5-1.5 and wins the event 46.5-43.5
- MGT wins hole: MGT wins the match 9-0 and wins the event 48-42
- WS wins hole: WS wins the back, pushes the overall match, wins the event 46.5-43.5

Other highlights of the trip included:
- Rick won a bet with our van driver, Glenn, when Maryland beat UConn in the tournament. Glenn had talked smack to Rick and said the only way Maryland wins is if they “dig up Lenny Bias.” For the record, Maryland 63, UConn 54.
- On consecutive days, Preede and Package both forgot golf shoes and had to buy new ones at the course.
- Evans & Dinora became the first partners to not lose a single hole in a match, beating Moran & Krempl 10 holes to 0 on day 1.
- Package with an excellent chip to close out the match at Southcreek on day 1.
- We celebrated Tim’s 50th on Saturday. Dave and Tim re-created a pose from Tim’s 40th in 2011.
- Paulie went full Irish-mode.
- Evans and Chicklo provided aid to an elderly woman who had taken a fall at her house at Pawley’s Plantation.
- Kenny made egg sandwiches. Reed bought doughnuts and coffee. Chicklo bought many rounds.
- Saint and Chicklo won the cornhole title
- Dwyer won the NCAA pool.
- Evans won 3 Long Drives, 2 Closest to the Pins, the MVP, and the Points Contest.
